Yes for the state benefit, and ask first for the court one.

Ohio's 2-point credit runs on BMV-approved courses, and approved online delivery qualifies; complete one and the credit applies the same as a classroom seat, once every three years. For that purpose the format question is settled and online is the practical default.

Where Ohio stays local is dismissal. Whether a court will trade a course for dismissing or reducing your specific ticket is that court's discretion, and so is which courses and formats it accepts for the deal. Before enrolling for a court purpose, one call to the clerk answers both questions at once: do you offer a course option, and does the online course I'm looking at qualify. Enrolling first and asking second is how Ohio drivers end up with a certificate their court won't take.

Every BMV-approved online course we track is compared on the Ohio page, the three-year clock is on our frequency page, and pricing is on our cost page.
