Depends which Ohio you're in, so here are both answers.
If a court has offered to dismiss or reduce your ticket for completing a course, yes, unambiguously. A $30-something course against roughly $1,563 of three-year insurance exposure at ceiling is up to roughly 40x on the money, and even a heavily tapered real-world surcharge leaves the trade lopsided in your favor. This version exists court by court, which is why the first move on any Ohio ticket is a call to the clerk asking whether it's on the table.
If no court deal exists and you're weighing the standalone 2-point BMV credit, the honest answer is: cheap, low-stakes, and worth it only when your point total says so. The credit doesn't touch the conviction or the insurance exposure; it manages license risk. At 8 or 10 points with Ohio's 12-point suspension looming, $30 and eight hours is obviously worth it. At 2 points on an otherwise clean record, you're buying a tool you probably won't need before it recharges in three years, and skipping it costs you nothing.
Eight hours is the real price for many people, one of the longer sits in the country, so let the point math, not guilt, decide.
Courses are compared on the Ohio page; both versions' mechanics are on our points page.
